Woodhead projects win 4 awards

The Woodhead team is celebrating after taking home four accolades from this year’s East Midlands Celebrating Construction Awards.

The ceremony, held on Friday 3rd June at The Nottingham Belfry, was attended by the region’s top construction firms, suppliers and partners. The Celebrating Construction Awards is held each year to recognise excellence in the industry.

Beating tough competition, Woodhead projects were awarded four awards, after being shortlisted in five categories.

Heritage award – The Woodhead Heritage team took home the Heritage award, having been nominated for its £4m restoration of Marble Hall in Derby. Innovation award & Leadership and people development awards – Woodhead Group won two categories for its innovative Good to Gold programme which was delivered last year for the first time. Designed to support around 100 of its sub contractors, Good to Gold, was a structure programme of training courses, designed to upskill, motivate and inspire the organisation’s supply chain, enabling them to grow with Woodhead, as the business continues to expand.

Value awardRethinking housing delivery – a programme being delivered for A1 Housing and Bassetlaw District Council. The already award winning project will see Woodhead Living deliver 71 new homes to Bassetlaw over a three year programme, in the first major social housing project in the district for 35 years.

Craig Pygall, Construction Director at Robert Woodhead Ltd, said: “We’ve had a fantastic couple of years, delivering some iconic projects, as well as achieving best value for our customers and concentrating on the extra we can offer, in terms of local investment, job and employment opportunities and community engagement.

“Our teams running these successful projects deserve all the accolades they get, as it’s not just about what you do, it’s about how you go about achieving a legacy and adding value to projects or in the case of our Good to Gold Programme, the supply chain. Also shortlisted was the biggest co-location scheme of its type in the UK to date, under the Collaboration and Integrated working category for Woodhead Improve’s project for the City of Lincoln Council and the DWP.  The project, procured through the empaii Minor Works Framework transformed City Hall into the new base for the Department for Work & Pensions’ and JobCentre Plus. This brings together two key services to provide an improved experience for customers.
