Woodhead appointed to phase two works at Kelham Hall

Woodhead Heritage has been appointed to deliver another phase of works at Grade I listed Kelham Hall, headquarters of Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Following on from the successful delivery of a project to conserve and repair the building at high level, this new phase of works will focus on the repair and consolidation of drainage and other low level works.

The project will start in August 2011 and is expected to be complete in November 2011.

Completed in 1863 and designed by architect Sir George Gilbert Scott for the Manners Sutton family, Kelham Hall is an under-rated gem of the Victorian Gothic movement. The building later acted as headquarters of the Society of the Sacred Mission, and was extended to incorporate additional accommodation. This included the Byzantine styled Great Chapel dome in 1928.
